Create Before You Consume
The one rule that fixes consistency for ADHD creators.
If you’ve got a bit of ADHD (I mean, who hasn’t), and you can’t stay consistent, you already know the problem. It’s not motivation. It’s the scroll.
Consumption is a trap. Not because ideas are bad, but because they’re cheap dopamine for zero effort. Open the app, get the hit, tell yourself you’re “researching.” Three hours gone, nothing made—no forward momentum.
There is a fix, and it has to be non-negotiable: create before you consume. Make it your eat-the-frog religious rule. No exceptions.
You still need input eventually — there’s no original idea, everything’s remixed from somewhere. But sequence matters. Create first, while your attention’s still yours. Consume later, once the day’s work is already banked. Then let what you absorb feed tomorrow’s session, and run the loop again.
Simple order of operations. Enormous difference in output.
If you’re creating after you’ve already burned your best hours doom-scrolling, you’re not undisciplined. You’ve just got the sequence backwards.
